Day-by-day route

Day 1

Londorossi Gate → Mti Mkubwa: Start in rainforest, with colobus monkeys and tall fig trees along the trail.

Day 2

Mti Mkubwa → Shira Plateau: Climb above the forest into moorland, with wide views opening toward the summit.

Day 3

Shira Plateau: An acclimatisation-focused day across volcanic landscape, with a short hike and early camp.

Day 4

Barranco → Karanga: Traverse beneath the southern glaciers and settle into a strong summit rhythm.

Day 5

Day 5 — Continue along the southern circuit, keeping the pace steady and prioritising acclimatisation.

Day 6

Day 6 — Begin the summit push before dawn, reach Uhuru Peak, then descend carefully to lower camp.

Day 7

Day 7 — Descend through changing vegetation, celebrate with the crew and return to Moshi.

Day 8

Day 8 — Use this final buffer day for recovery, a relaxed crew celebration and onward travel.

What to bring

Waterproof shell, insulating layers, warm gloves, broken-in boots, sun protection and a headlamp. We’ll send a complete kit list before your trek.
